What were the causes and effects of the Peloponnesian War?

Causes: 1) Anti-Athenian feelings spread. 2) Then Athens attacks a Spartan ally. 3) Athenians use the money from other city-states to build stuff in the city to make it more protective and grand. 4) Athens controlled everything in the Delian league. 5) Used the Delian league as its own empire. Effects: 1) The Peloponnesian wars start between Athens(Delian League) and Sparta(Peloponnesian League). 2) Athens surrenders to Sparta 3) Plague takes out 1/4 to 1/2 of Athenian population. 4) Spartans destroy Athenian farmland 5) Thousands of Greeks join the Persian army as mercenaries.
