He wanted to build a vast Aryan nation that would dominate Europe. Italy and Germany formed the Rome-Berlin Axis, and Germany and Japan allied themselves via the Anti-Comintern Pact. In 1939, Germany signed the Nazi-Soviet Nonaggression Pact with the Soviet Union.
