The major difference between a salary and a wage is: federal minimum wage and overtime laws that protect workers who are paid a wage do not apply to salaried workers. workers paid a salary usually earn more money than workers who are paid an hourly wage. wage earners are exempt from the federal laws that govern minimum wage and overtime work. hourly wage earners are not eligible for pre-tax deductions from their earnings, but salaried workers are.

Basicaly stated, and for you to choose the right one, the essential difference between a salary and wages is that a salaried person is paid a fixed amount per pay period and a wage earner is paid by the hour period. The one who si receiving a salary is not paid a smaller amount for working fewer hours, nor is he paid more for working overtime. I know this is going to be useful.
