The First Amendment states that: " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. . . " This means: It is illegal for the federal government to collect taxes to support a church. Only religions advocating polygamy, child marriages, or use of drugs may be prohibited by Congress. The teaching of or mention of the Bible is not permitted in a public school under any circumstances. Churches may be built on public land with Congressional support only. Description
