The accepted value for the heat of combustion of methane is 890 kJ/mol. Explain why the experimental data might differ from the theoretical value.

For any given the Experimental value can never be equal to the theoretical value, this is because the Theoretical value is calculate under ideal conditions which is no heat loss to the environment, constant temperature and pressure, the use of ideal gasses and fluids etc.
