We can assume that the unshaded part of the region is half a circle [latex]\frac{ \pi r^2}{2}[/latex] Now the area of the square is going to be 30*30 = 900 ft^2 We just have to subtract [latex]900ft^2 - \frac{\pi r^2}{2}[/latex] We know that the radius is 30ft so just plug that into your circle equation. [latex]900ft^2-\frac{\pi (15^2ft^2)}{2}=0\\ 900ft^2-353.43ft^2=546.57ft^2 [/latex]
