The total amount Joe had before buying the books = $297 The total amount of money left with Joe after buying the books = $18 Number of books bought by Joe = 9 Then Amount required by Joe to buy 9 books = (297 - 18) dollars                                                                  = 279 dollars Cost of each book bought by Joe = (279/9) dollars                                                       = 31 dollars So the amount of money required by Joe to buy each book is $31. I hope the procedure is clear to you and in future you can do such problems on your own without requiring any help from others.

First we will subtract to see how much money Joe spent on the 9 books. 297 - 18 = 279. Now we will divide 279 (total money Joe used to buy the 9 books) by 9 (the amount of books he bought) Lets do it:- 279 ÷ 9 = 31 CHECK YOUR WORK:- 31 × 9 = 279 We were RIGHT!!!! So, each book costs $31. Hope I helped ya!!! :)
