Heifer partners work with community groups to form development plans and to train them in animal well-being, agroecology, water quality, gender equity and community development. The training enables them to care for livestock, grow crops sustainably and to further help participants lift themselves out of poverty. Heifer currently provides more than 25 kinds of livestock, trees, seeds and training in environmentally sound agriculture and animal well-being to families in more than 50 countries, including the United States.
